Operation Showtime

  Treat a soldier to a movie

    Here is your chance to support the troops. Look though your DVD collection and get rid of those old ones or send us new DVDs. Have your church group, veterans group, scout troop collect them. If you have a business that sells or leases DVD’s, then the time has come to clean the shelves of those old ones. So come join “Operation Showtime” and take the troops out to the movies by donating your old DVD’s (No VHS tapes accepted). Call me. Jim Bradley at 727-376-2576 (leave a message).

    Why are we doing this? Because any combat soldier would describe combat as  “a brief period of high intensity filled with numerous emotions followed by long periods of absolute boredom. It could be days, weeks or months before a soldier moves from the boredom period to the high intensity period. Many of our troops are spending this time watching DVDs (movies). There currently exist a desperate need for DVDs for the troops to watch movies to help pass the time. My old Combat unit is the 173rd Airborne Brigade, the same hardcore paratroopers that jumped in the dead of night to help kick out Saddam’s government. They are in need of DVDs (movies) for the troops. If you will donate your old (or new) DVD, I will get them to the troops.

    Now I know you saying, what about the other units and other branches? What are they going to do? Please let me explain. The Sky Soldiers of the 173d Airborne are the tip of the sword and they far from any real creature comforts. The unit has areas set up with a TV and a DVD player so when the troops have the time to gather, they can watch a movie. When the troops have watched the movies to the point where everyone knows the words, they usually trade them with other units. So you see, the DVD's you donate to the Sky Soldiers would eventually make the rounds of all the troops (units) in the area and they in turn would do the same with other units. A gift that keeps on giving.

Here is how you can donate,  mail you old DVDs to;
